That does seem positive. I hope there's more Avengers talk when they publish more of the interview.

Doomsday Scenario 2 (And I'm deliberately not posting this in the Avengers thread): Marvel announces the role will be recast for Avengers.
Who's your top choice?*

Norton's roll is being re-casted? If so, I had a feeling that this would happen and as much as I thought he was good as Banner, see ya. They need someone who doesn't have such a big opinion of themself.

Re: Ed Norton and Marvel Movies
No, not at all! Marvel has made no announcement regarding any recasting of the role. This is an absolutely hypothetical scenario. Purely for fun.
Re: Ed Norton and Marvel Movies
Ahh. I see, still I get the feeling that he's not going to be back. Could be wrong, it's just a feeling. I'd like to see someone younger, early 30's play Banner. 3rd time should be a charm. LOL sigh

Re: Ed Norton and Marvel Movies
Im having a hard time thinking but I think it should be a classically trained actor and someone with the charisma that made the best and most sympathetic Banner, that of Bill Bixby. He was just so likeable. Just of the top of my head right now I think Bana and Norton may have just been too intense in their own ways, but maybe because of the plot and character requirements and not themselves. Bana was so repressed he had no personality but I think Ang wanted this and Norton was so driven by finding a cure in a film with too short a run time to let him develop a personality beyond that. The more I think of it maybe the reason Norton had conflicts was actually because he realised certain footage that was cut was necessary for further development of Banner such as the discussion with Samson. When you come to think of it a TV series does give more time to allow for real sympathetic character development but this is no excuse to not get enough of it into a film that really requires it for the main character.

Inspired choice! He'd have to lose the accent, though, and keep his hands off the production assistants.

Best rumor I've heard all year! Man, if he showed up at ComiCon, the place would go nuts!

Re: Ed Norton and Marvel Movies
I'll still take it with a big grain of salt, but the fact that he hasn't been ruled out at this point (especially after Chris Hemsworth, RDJ and Sam Jackson have all confirmed they've been told shooting stars next Feb) is a good thing. I guess I thought Cap and Thor would be the focus of Comic-Con, so I kind of figured AVENGERS might not be hyped as heavily. We'll see, though.
What's your Banner level?
Have had this discussion a couple of times with Bruno: let's say Ed Norton, for whatever reason, does not return. Which would you rather see:
a)Banner recast
b)No Banner at all, just Hulk
Bruno's take: you don't need Banner in an AVENGERS story. There's plenty of them written and the Hulk does just fine.
My take: There won't be a big enough budget in AVENGERS to enable the amount of screen time proportionate to what Hulk gets in one of those stories. So if you have no Banner, you just end up with less of the Hulk's universe in the movie, rather than more Hulk. Plus, the intrigue comes from the character's dual nature, and a live-action film will want to take advantage of that. I'd go with the first.
How about you?

Recast. I'd like it, like you, if Norton came back but I can see where $$ could become an issue. Hulk without Banner is mideless Hulk and I never liked those stories. What I'd really like to see is TIH II The Rampaging Hulk.

Lame indeed, but still filed under "rumor." Hopefully more light will be shed at SDCC.

Re: Ed Norton and Marvel Movies
Holy balls. Not only have they confirmed he's out, they absolutely threw him under the freaking bus:
Next time The Incredible Hulk shows up onscreen, in 2012's 'The Avengers,' it will be a brand-new actor playing the role of Bruce Banner.

As HitFix exclusively reported yesterday, Marvel Studios has now confirmed that it is moving forward on development with their summer 2012 blockbuster "The Avengers," and they have decided not to cast Edward Norton in the key role of Bruce Banner, aka The Incredible Hulk.
In a statement sent in direct response to yesterday's story from the set of "Captain America" in London, Marvel Studios President of Production Kevin Feige forwarded the following exclusively to HitFix:
"We have made the decision to not bring Ed Norton back to portray the title role of Bruce Banner in the Avengers. Our decision is definitely not one based on monetary factors, but instead rooted in the need for an actor who embodies the creativity and collaborative spirit of our other talented cast members. The Avengers demands players who thrive working as part of an ensemble, as evidenced by Robert, Chris H, Chris E, Sam, Scarlett, and all of our talented casts. We are looking to announce a name actor who fulfills these requirements, and is passionate about the iconic role in the coming weeks."
That is NASTY. And catch the name actor part.
Wow.

Re: Ed Norton and Marvel Movies
yeah...this news is disappointing indeed, but I can't say I'm completely surprised either. I'm am however, SHOCKED by Feige's statement.
So...does this mean that TIH doesn't exist in terms of the Avengers storyline?

Re: Ed Norton and Marvel Movies
Marvel production featuring Stark tech & a Stark cameo...why wouldn't it? This is a recasting, not a reboot.
My guess is Marvel all along has wanted a better option, but wouldn't formally cut ties with Norton until they have one. If it's Sharlto Copley (the lone "name actor" I'd actually prefer over Norton) from District 9 & the A Team, they can move forward. But I'm really surprised at the drive-by they laid on Ed Norton. It's been two years.Again: wow. Comic Con will be big.

You never know Scandy. Couldn't you see them glancing over 08 and re-establishing the Hulk more along the lines of the Ultimates universe?
