The Green Lantern June 17, 2011

Look pretty cool. I know next to nothing about the Green Lantern so I'm not tainted. How close is this to the comic?

I think it looks really promising. Not the greatest trailer, but good footage, if that makes any sense. The cosmic stuff looks excellent, Sinestro and Tomar Re (the bird looking guy) look AWESOME. Love the CGI suits, which give them an otherwordly appearance. Kind of wish they'd worked in Hal's white gloves.

This Hal is more loose & reckless than the traditional comics portrayal, I think. I'm not really crazy about Hal "questioning his own bravery" as a friend put it. Blake Lively looks/seems nothing like Carol Ferris (the version I'm thinking of at least).

Still, looking forward to this one. Biggest omission: there's only one shot of him MAKING anything-a fist--and even that is very quick. Still working on it, I guess!

So this origin is pretty faithful to the comic? It look pretty cool and from the little we've seen I thing, basing this on the fact that I know northing about GL, the general public way like this along the same line as they liked Iron Man. I sure hope this turns out.

The origin has gotten kind of bloated nowadays (the latest version took, like 4 issues to do in what was orignally done in two or three panels), but from what I can tell this is spot on. Hal, test fighter pilot, encounters crash-landed Abin Sur who transfers the ring and power battery.

Looks like a really fun summer superhero flick.
