Re: Green Lantern
I think your thinking of Green Arrow.
This is about Hal Jordan, former pilot and now member of an intergalactic "police force" with the green power ring that can sling energy however he perceives it just using his willpower.

Re: Green Lantern
Based on everything I've heard and read, I'm really looking forward to GREEN LANTERN. I think there are several parallels with Iron Man (and WB is approaching it that way) and the film may really surprise some people.
It will be the first film to be released from DC Entertainment, the joint entity that's now wrapped with WB. WB is really looking for something to launch successfully besides Batman, and they are putting a mountain of resources behind this thing. There are actually real comics professionals involved in a way that's more than lip service, which is in itself shocking.
GL is a a great character who, like Iron Man, very likely will have a "wow" visual factor that's just crying out for a big FX treatment. And the movie's got the Corps, the Guardians of Oa, Abin Sur, Carol Ferris, etc!
Check out this cool concept art from earlier in the film's development. I've heard much of this has changed, but still...can't wait!

Are you sure you're not thinking of Martian Manhunter who lost his powers and became a detective?

Re: Green Lantern
No. GL was on SM before. In one show. They referred to it in the special event that was on a few weeks back.

Mark Strong on playing Sinestro:
- USA WEEKEND
How great is it to see an actor actually say something like that, instead of ripping comic books? And a good actor who's actually cast well, at that. Here's hoping...
He’s certainly very strict and certainly unsure of the wisdom of Hal becoming a Green Lantern,” Strong says. “He is a military guy but isn’t immediately bad. It’s the kind of person he is that lends himself to becoming bad over the course of the comics being written, but initially he’s quite a heroic figure.” Sinestro first appeared in DC Comics’ Green Lantern series in 1961, and Strong says that the outfit and other aspects of the character very closely follow the character’s early days. “That widow’s peak and thin mustache was for some reason originally based on David Niven, and Hal Jordan was based on Paul Newman,” says Strong, who recently got fitted for special Sinestro contact lenses. “Obviously at the time, whoever was doing the original comics must have looked at them as guys doing very well in the film industry, and based those characters on them. So I would like to do justice to the Sinestro that was conceived for the comic books.”

Re: Green Lantern
Love, Love, LOVE Martin Campbell. Think he will be a good fit for this.
On a side note, Ryan Reynolds has really great abs.

This one's at the top of my list for this summer now. Even ahead of THOR.
